Real Estate Markets • Remodeling For Resale • Location Factor![]() Raleigh is combined with Durham and Chapel Hill to form an area known as the Research Triangle for its high-tech presence. Durham is home to Duke University, while Chapel Hill is home to the University of North Carolina. Raleigh has experienced high growth from a large number of relocations, which has added to some sprawl and longer commute times. Near the South Carolina border, Charlotte is a modern financial center with a diverse economy. Charlotte is the headquarters for more banks than any other USA city outside of New York. The city is also home to several professional sports teams and is in close proximity to a NASCAR racing circuit. Charlotte boasts a Southern-style friendliness, but also contends with urban sprawl and high crime rates. Wilmington is a port city on the southern coast of North Carolina.
